FAQ
.) What is the only effective way to manage pavement? Preventive maintenance: Sealcoat, Crack fill, Repair Potholes, Reduce Weather Damage....water downspouts, gas spils, salts, roots or trees
.) Why should crack sealing be done? Water passing below a pavement surface can destroy a pavement from beneath, by erosion of the pavement itself, by freeze-thaw actions, and by breaking down the base layers below the pavement.
.) What is alligator cracking? A series of interconnecting cracks in an asphalt pavement surface forming a pattern that resembles an alligator's hide or chicken wire. The cracks indicate fatigue failure of the surface layer generally caused by repeated traffic loadings.
.) What is a crack? Fissure or discontinuity of the pavement surface not necessarily extending through the entire thickness of the pavement. Cracks generally develop after initial construction of the pavement and may be caused by thermal effects, excess loads, or excess deflections.
